Vehicular Energy Network (VEN) is a vehicular network which can transfer energy over a large geographical area by means of electric vehicles (EVs). It is built upon the existing road networks, where EVs traverse the network along certain routes completely based on the drivers’ wills. Wireless (dis)charging facilities and small energy storage are installed at certain road junctions. With the advanced IoT technologies, we can acquire the travel plans of the participating EVs. When a particular EV comes across a road junction, it can be wirelessly charged with some energy as energy packets. When it reaches an appropriate road junction, we discharge the energy from the EV and the energy is then stored in a storage facility for subsequently charging another EV. In this way, we utilize EVs as carriers to convey energy from one place to another without deviating their original driving routes. With proper selection of EVs to carry energy, energy paths, linked by fragments of vehicular routes, can be constructed to systemically transmit energy from an energy source to a destination.
